Janaya Black - the eldest of five children, was born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. Even as a child, she always showed a passion for creative writing.  She began writing short stories at a young age and showed great promise by exhibiting her skills in various college-prep classes all through her school career, entering oratorical contests through church organizations, and song writing.

Janaya is a ten-year veteran in the music industry.  Beginning as a freelance songwriter, she honed her writing skills over the years by providing material to local artists.

After freelancing for the first couple of years, she then joined an all girl group called Touche’.  After an uneventful stint with the group, she then decided to get back into the behind the scenes aspect of music and began managing her brother Jason’s (a.k.a. Jassasin) rap career.

In addition to her musical endeavors, Janaya is the author and publisher of fiction novel “The Breaking Point”.  Authorhouse first released the book in August of 2004, but after learning the system of book publishing she set out to do it on her own.

Janaya now serves as president/CEO of Black-Smith Enterprises, which is an entertainment infrastructure she created to house all of her creative projects.  Projects that include book and screen writing, film production, directing, book publishing, and promotions.

Black-Smith Enterprises is currently filming the feature "Till Death", which is scheduled to be released in August of '08. Thus far the company has written, directed, and produced the following films; Clubbin, The Breaking Point trailer, Till Death, and  I'm Hott  music video for rapper Jassasin.   Directorial project; A Cold Dish. Production Projects; Company Policy.  All projects were produced in association with her husband’s film company Goldline Films.  She also wrote, directed, and produced the breakout video “I’m Hott” for rapper Jassasin.  These works can be viewed at www.youtube.com/jblack317.
